Lunchtime tunes in Everett

Music on the Plaza is back this week. The lunchtime concerts are held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays through July 25 (except for the July 4 holiday) at the outdoor plaza on the Snohomish County campus at the corner of Rockefeller Avenue and Wall Street. This year’s concert series will reflect a diverse range of musical styles, from rock to flamenco to bluegrass. Fresh flowers from Hmong growers, kettle corn and multiple food vendors will be open.

Juneteenth coming up

The NAACP of Snohomish County plans a Juneteenth Community Celebration, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 23 at Senator Henry M Jackson Park, 3302 18th St., Everett.

Juneteenth is a historic celebration that marks the Union Army’s notification to slaves and slave owners in Galveston, Texas, that slavery had been abolished. The local event will include a community potluck, educational speeches, field games and more. Hot dogs and hamburgers provided; participants are asked to bring a side dish, dessert or drink to share if able.

Get silly at Tighty Race

The Arlington Runners Club holds YD Tighty Run on June 23. The family friendly 5K or 10K benefits Stilly Valley Youth Dynamics. All participants get a T-shirt, finisher medal, post-race treats — and a pair of YD tighty wighties to wear over your running apparel, or maybe on your head. Registration starts at 8 a.m. on race day at Legion Park, 114 N Olympic Ave., Arlington. Race is at 9. Tickets are $30 until June 18, then go up.

Walk for CMT

The state’s first Walk 4 CMT fundraiser is set for 10 a.m. June 23 at Harbour Pointe Middle School, 5000 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. Participants are encouraged to sign up for free and raise pledges to benefit the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, which works to find a treatment for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
