Tour backyard wildlife habitats

The Camano Island Backyard Wildlife Habitat Garden Tour is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Free. Pick up maps at the Island County Multipurpose Center, 141 N East Camano Drive, the day of the event. No dogs.

Nature talk for curious kids

What makes an anemone green? How small is a baby raccoon? How do carpenter ants feed each other? Learn some fun facts at a “Curious Kids” nature talk with author Fiona Cohen, 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Stream Center at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Admission is $5 for Adopt A Stream Foundation members, $7 nonmembers. Reservations are required.

Rods & Rides charity run

The annual Rods & Rides Charity Run to help prevent suicide is set for June 30. Sign-in is at 10 a.m. behind Viking Village, 8820 Viking Way, in Stanwood. Engines start and kick stands are up by noon. All rides welcome. The suggested donation is $20. Proceeds benefit Stanwood-Camano Community Action.

The event includes a raffle, drawings and information on how to help local suicide prevention efforts. The event is rain or shine.

Swing into summer for seniors

Swingin’ to Summer, featuring the Moonlight Swing Orchestra, is set for 5 p.m. June 30 at the Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway, Monroe. Proceeds benefit senior center programs. The event includes dinner, music and dancing. Tickets are $15. Pre-pay and get a free drink ticket.

Help Everett schools stuff the bus

The Everett Public Schools Foundation seeks volunteers for its annual school supply drive, Stuff the Bus for Kids. Help collect school supplies from Aug. 17 to 19 or help stuff backpacks Aug. 20 to 22.

Donations of school supplies are welcome. A list of needed items is available at everettsd.org/epsf.

Monetary donations are especially needed this year to help make up for a shortage of 600 high school backpacks, due to the loss of a supplier.

Crab Dash is almost here

The Crab Dash 5k and 10k family fun run is Saturday on Camano Island to benefit the Camano Center. Packet pick-up and day-of registration starts at 7:30 a.m. The race starts at 9 a.m. Advance registration will be taken until 4 p.m. Friday. The Camano Center is at 606 Arrowhead Road.
