Workshop on self-defense for teens
The Granite Falls Library hosts a teen self-defense workshop, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The workshop is open to boys and girls, ages 11 to 18. Space is limited and registration is required.

Take part in library cupcake challenge
The Dewey Decimal Cupcake Challenge returns to two sites this summer as part of Sno-Isle Libraries’ “Explore Summer” series, which provides programs for students during the summer break.
Participants are given a blank cupcake and a section of the Dewey Decimal System to inspire their decorating.
The sweet event is planned for 3 to 5 p.m. July 11 at the Stanwood Library (9701 271st St. NW) and 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Mountlake Terrace Library (23300 58th Ave. W). Registration is required for the Stanwood event, which is for teens. The Mountlake Terrace event is open to ages 10 and older.

Live bug lessons
What can water bugs tell us about pollution?
School-age kids and teens are invited to investigate stream bugs and learn about a macroinvertebrate habitat with the Snohomish County Conservation District, 11 a.m. Friday at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W.

Vendors needed for car show
Sunday is the last day to sign up for a vendor table at an annual Classic Car Show to be held July 21 in Edmonds.
The space fee is $5 and goes to Washington Kids in Transition, which provides support for homeless children in the Edmonds School District.
All are welcome to attend the car show, set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21 at Edmonds Church of God, 8224 220th St. SW, Edmonds.
The event will feature more than 30 classic cars and live music.

Donate to book sale
The Friends of the Edmonds Library seeks donations to its ongoing book sale, including gently used books, CDs, videos, DVDs, sheet music, magazines and computer software.
Sale proceeds benefit library programs and a scholarship fund.
A drop box for donations is in the foyer of the library, at 650 Main St. Pick-up service is available for large donations.

Eyeglasses, hearing aids needed
Lions Clubs collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids.
Donations may be made at Everett Public Library branches, the PUD main office and at most opticians and eye doctors.
