Highway 524 closure planned in Maltby
A fish passage project will shut down Highway 524 (Maltby Road) just west of the intersection with Highway 9 for three days.
The highway is scheduled for closure to all traffic from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. A signed detour will follow Highway 9 and nearby local roads.
The $1.5 million project will replace a narrow culvert over Great Dane Creek to free up movement for salmon and steelhead.

Fair time in Stanwood
The Stanwood-Camano Community Fair opens at 9 a.m. Friday and runs daily through Sunday. Tickets are $10, $7 for seniors and children, free for children younger than 5. A season pass is $20. Find carnival rides, exhibits, a lip sync competition and more.
Meanwhile, the Stanwood-Camano Rotary Club hosts the community parade, which starts at 11 a.m. Saturday downtown.

MEETING
Learn about Camano fish passage project
A community meeting about work planned for this summer at Triangle Cove will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Camano Island Library, 848 N Sunrise Blvd.
Snohomish Conservation District is partnering with Island County Public Works to replace the Kristoferson Creek culverts at Barnum and Russell roads to ease fish passage. Ask questions about the project, timeline and construction impacts for neighbors, walkers and traffic.
