Adoption event for forgotten animals

Forgotten Kingdom Animal Shelter hosts an animal adoption event with rescue pets and vendors, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Smokey Point Tractor Supply, 17020 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.

Block party for Labor

The Snohomish County Labor Council plans a Labor Day march and block party. The march is set to start at 11 a.m. at Wetmore and Hewitt avenues, by the Workers Memorial. Participants should get there a half-hour early.

The march will follow Wetmore to California Street and to the Everett Labor Temple. The block party runs until 3:30 p.m. with live music, free food and a children’s area.

‘Boys in the Boat’ remembered

Judy Rantz Willman — daughter of Joe Rantz, a member of the 1936 U.S. men’s Olympic eight-oar rowing team and main character in the book “The Boys in the Boat” — will share her memories at the next Pub Night Talk, co-sponsored by the University of Washington Bothell, 7 p.m. Tuesday in Hayne’s Hall at McMenamins Anderson School, 18607 Bothell Way NE.

Free and open to the public. All ages welcome. Seating is first come, first served. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Opioid overdose awareness event

In 2017, Snohomish County lost more than 90 people to opioid overdoses. Arlington Remembers, an event marking International Overdose Awareness Day, will be held at 3 to 9 p.m. Aug. 31 at Legion Park, 114 N Olympic Ave., to remember lives lost. The event aims to reduce stigma and acknowledge grief.

What’s that antique worth?

An antique valuation event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. Appraiser Bette Bell will give a presentation and then offer one-on-one estimates. Limit one item per guest. Registration is required.

Upcoming Marysville classes

Marysville Parks and Recreation offers a variety of classes. Here are a few coming up:

“Tap for Adults,” 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 6 to 27, at the Ken Baxter Community Center. Cost is $40.

“CPR, First Aid and AED Certification,” 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Rotary Ranch at Jennings Park. Cost is $60. Certification valid for two years.

“Sew Together 1,” ages 16 and up, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 13 to Oct. 25 at the Ken Baxter Community Center. Cost is $52.

“Sew Together 100,” ages 8 to 17, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays, Sept. 14 to Nov. 16 at the Ken Baxter Community Center. Cost is $50.

Registration is required for all classes.
