Peace rally canceled
A student-led peace rally that had been scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday at the Mariner High School parking lot has been canceled.
The event was being planned after an altercation in the school’s parking lot Sept. 14 during a Kamiak-Mariner football game led to off-campus gunfire nearby. No one was injured and detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate.

Recycle your kid’s car seat
Target’s car seat recycling offer ends today. Bring in your expired or damaged child’s car seat or booster seat to a local store and receive a discount toward the purchase of a new seat, stroller or other item.
Waste Management will collect the seats from the nationwide campaign, then use the various materials to make new products, such as pallets, plastic buckets and construction materials like steel beams and carpet padding, according to Target.
Most local efforts to collect car seats for recycling ended following increased restrictions on waste shipped to China.
“Waste Management manages the processing of the recycling components domestically,” Waste Management spokeswoman Janette Micelli said.
