Providence Regional Medical Center Everett will hold an educational event, “Breathe Easy,” about its robotic thoracic surgery program, 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the east lobby of the Cymbaluk Tower, 1321 Colby Ave. Learn about procedures offered and meet the surgeons.

Animal shelter holiday help
Remember a pet and help the Camano Animal Shelter Association with its Lights of Love Tree. Donate $5 and a Christmas tag with your pet’s name will be hung on the tree at Mark’s Camano Pharmacy at the Camano Plaza. Donations can be in honor or in memory of a pet. Forms are available at the shelter, at 198 Can Ku Road on Camano Island, or can be downloaded from the CASA website.
2019 calendars featuring CASA animals also are available for purchase at the shelter for $15.

Humane Society holiday dinner gala
Meet with other animal lovers at the local Humane Society’s holiday dinner auction to raise money for veterinary care, 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bothell. Tickets are $55 to $65 depending on dinner choice of salmon, chicken or vegetarian ravioli. Dress is casual or holiday attire.

Arts Commission seeks members
The Snohomish County Arts Commission is looking for commissioners to represent District 3, which is primarily Edmonds/Woodway and parts of Lynnwood and represented by Stephanie Wright on the County Council.
Commissioners are expected to attend monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month in Everett and serve on at least one committee and report back to the full commission. County residents who have relevant experience or skills are encouraged to apply. No prior experience is required but a willingness to support the arts. Backgrounds may include visual arts, music, writing, theatre, dance, etc.
It is suggested those interested attend a commission meeting before completing the application. The application process can take a few months for approval.

Upcoming exercises at Naval Station Everett
Drills may close access to Naval Station Everett for five-minute intervals between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday.
People nearby also may hear blank gunshots, loudspeaker announcements and emergency vehicles. There may be actors participating and gathering near the base entrance, and more security than usual near the waterfront.
The same exercise is scheduled for Dec. 5 and 6.
