An Entry to Apprenticeship workshop is set for 6 p.m. Monday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Learn about trades that offer programs to train skilled workers. Co-sponsored by Workforce Snohomish.

School tour with superintendent
Edmonds School District Superintendent Kristine McDuffy will lead a breakfast and school tour, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday starting from Mountlake Terrace High School, 21801 44th Ave. W. Walk through the lunch line in the commons to enjoy a school meal, then take a tour of the high school and Mountlake Terrace Elementary School. Remaining tours this school year are planned for March 6 and May 1.

City scholarships up for grabs
Several local cities are taking part in the Association of Washington Cities’ statewide Center for Quality Communities Scholarship Fund. Each city or town is able to nominate one student. Six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.
Recruitment and selection is done by the cities. Interested high school seniors should contact their local city hall.
Students competing for the scholarships must be involved in city government, their community or school leadership. They must live in the boundaries of the city in which they apply. There is an application, reference letter and personal essay required.
Deadlines vary but typically fall in February.

Boat into Canada with confidence
The nonprofit Everett Sail and Power Squadron offers a seminar on “Crossing Borders” about taking your boat into Canadian or Mexican waters, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Snohomish County PUD, 2320 California St., Everett. Cost is $30 in advance, $35 at the door.
