Arlington book sale
The Friends of the Arlington Library book sale is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at 135 N. Washington Ave.
In addition to books, DVDs, CDs and magazines, in preparation for Valentine’s Day the sale also includes packaged candy, jewelry and other sweetly romantic items. Proceeds support library programs.

Father-Daughter Valentine’s Dance
Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation invites fathers and daughters of all ages to the 2019 Father-Daughter Valentine’s Dance.
The dance will take place on Saturdays, Feb. 2 and Feb. 9, with sessions from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Cedarcrest Middle School, 6400 88th Street NE. Cost is $25 per couple and $5 for each additional daughter attending the same session of the dance. Pre-registration is required.

Recognize a coastal volunteer
The Island County Marine Resources Committee, Sound Water Stewards and Washington State University Extension Island County seek nominations for the Jan Holmes Island County Coastal Volunteer of the Year award.
The award is open to all volunteers participating in or supporting science and outreach efforts related to protecting or restoring the coastal resources of Island County.
Nomination forms are due by 4:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

Become a habitat steward
Learn how to garden for wildlife and create a wildlife sanctuary in your back yard with Friends of Camano Island Parks’ Camano Wildlife Habitat Project training.
Training sessions are at the Island County Multi-Purpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 20, April 17, May 15 and June 19. They include five Saturday field trips, 9:30 a.m. to noon, Jan. 19, Feb. 23, March 23, April 20 and May 18.

Ramping up the help
The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties would like to help individuals in need of wheelchair ramps. For 25 years, local residential builders have built more than 500 free wheelchair ramps in King and Snohomish counties through Rampathon.
Applications are being accepted through March 1.
