How to save for retirement
A “Strategies for a Sustainable Income in Retirement” workshop is set for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Mountlake Terrace Library. Learn how to establish retirement goals, estimate retirement income, use tax-advantaged savings vehicles, optimize Social Security and choose among investment considerations. A program of the Society for Financial Awareness.

Dewey Decimal delicious
Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to compete in a Dewey Decimal Cupcake Challenge, 3 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. Teens will get a blank cupcake and a range of the Dewey Decimal System, then be challenged to decorate the cupcake using inspiration from that section of the library. Will it be 510 (math)? Or maybe 780 (music) or 950 (Asian history)? Compete for the title of Cupcake Master.
This is the first time the popular Sno-Isle Libraries event has come to the Arlington branch.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser
The Assistance League of Everett is throwing a spaghetti dinner 5-7 p.m. Sunday at 5107 Evergreen Way. The night will include food, games and raffle baskets. Proceeds will go toward the Assisteens Auxiliary program, which provides volunteer opportunities for middle and high school students.
Tickets are available at the Assistance League Thrift Store.

A reception for inspiring art
“Inspirational Art” is the name of a new collection installed at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett’s Pacific campus, at 916 Pacific Ave. The exhibit portrays work created by artists who faced disabling or challenging medical conditions. A reception and ceremony will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rehabilitation Unit, on the second floor.

Job fair in Bothell area
The Northshore Fire Department in Kenmore plans to host a free career fair from noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 30. Local public agencies and nonprofits will be participating.
All ages, experience levels and industries are encouraged to attend. There is free parking. Dress professionally.

MEETINGS
The Everett Community College Board of Trustees meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The agenda includes an update on hiring a new president.
The Everett School District board plans a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the search for a new superintendent. The location is “Port Gardner Room B” at the district headquarters at 3900 Broadway. Superintendent Gary Cohn announced last week that he plans to retire effective June 30. Cohn, 63, had been with the district about a decade.
