Merger meeting
A public meeting is planned Tuesday about the proposed merger of Snohomish County Fire District 7 in Monroe and Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens.
The event is set for 6 p.m. at the Lake Stevens Fire Conference Center, 10518 18th St. SE. Both fire chiefs will take questions after a brief presentation.
A ballot measure on the merger could be sought for the August primary election.

Snow goose festival
The Stanwood Camano Snow Goose and Birding Festival runs Saturday and Sunday at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center in Stanwood.
Speakers include environmentalists, ecologists and wildlife experts. In addition, art will be available for sale, as well as items from vendor booths.
Sign up for tours as well, including those focused on snow geese and trumpeter swans.

Enjoy a musical jam
Enjoy an evening of old- time music with fiddle, guitar, banjo and more with the Washington Old Time Fiddlers, 5 p.m. second and fourth Fridays at the Sisco Heights Community Club, 13527 99th Ave. NE, Arlington.
There’s a Celtic jam at 5 p.m., workshop at 6, and circle jam at 7. Musicians are welcome, or just come and enjoy the music.

Donate cellphones
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County takes donations of cellphones with chargers.
Even without service, cellphones can be used to access 911 emergency services. The nonprofit gives them to clients who need the phones for safety reasons.
Drop off donations at the New and Again Thrift Shoppe, 3010 Grand Ave. in Everett, or at other sites in Everett, Brier, Mountlake Terrace and Stanwood that are listed at dvs-snoco.org.

MEETINGS
• The Lynnwood City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
In addition, the city plans a public hearing at 7 p.m. March 11 regarding the Whispering Pines project. A related rezoning is proposed there as part of a plan to develop new multi-family housing.
