Attention Mukilteo walkers
Starting March 25, the popular pedestrian trail that runs between the new Mukilteo ferry terminal site and the railroad tracks will be closed until the fall for safety reasons during construction.
Don’t panic.
There will be times it will temporarily open.
Also, there will be a place to walk on the other side of the tracks.
Look for signs showing where to go.

Scouts honor
Join the Boy Scouts of America and the Monroe Kiwanis Club at noon Thursday for lunch as they recognize Adrian Taylor (the owner of Ben Franklin Crafts and Frame Shop in Monroe) as this year’s Good Scout Honoree. The event will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 125 S. Lewis St.
In addition, they will be raising funds to support character-building scouting programs throughout east Snohomish County. The goal is to raise $10,000 in critical operating funds for 2019. RSVP requested.

Story walk
PopUp StoryWalk, a local literacy effort aimed at getting kids excited to spend time outdoors, has been making its way through the Eastside after being started by a group of moms in Kenmore.
The group just secured its next book — “The Water Princess” by Susan Verde — which will debut on the trails of Brightwater Education Center in Woodinville. It will be launched at 10 a.m. with the Brightwater-sponsored event Water World Day on March 23. The installation will remain on the trail for three weeks.

MEETINGS
The Stanwood-Camano School District Board of Directors will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. A study session also is planned for 5 p.m. on the topic of school safety.
The Edmonds Economic Development Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall in the Brackett Meeting Room.
The Everett City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in its chambers.
Get acquainted with Mill Creek city manager candidates from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Forum in Town Center, 15117 Main St., second floor conference room. The City Council has narrowed a field of 48 candidates to five finalists. Candidate interviews with the City Council are slated for Saturday. Additional interviews may take place. The state Department of Transportation has planned an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday to talk about a new design for the Highway 9 and Highway 204 intersection in Lake Stevens. The meeting location is Hillcrest Elementary School, 9315 4th Street S.
