Life on the streets
Teenagers are invited to a Camp-In to experience a taste of homelessness and hunger, while helping to raise funds to support services for families in need.
The Volunteers of America Western Washington program is set for March 1, when 200 teens will spend the night on a floor, stand in line at a mock soup kitchen and learn about community resources. Participating teens are asked to gather pledges, with the goal of raising $100 each.

All about gold, gems: The annual Gold, Gem and Mineral Show for recreational gold prospectors and gem collectors will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sundayat the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe.
Hear presentations on prospecting and visit dealers, see displays, learn about local clubs and more. The event is sponsored by the Washington Prospectors Mining Association. Admission is $5.
