A taste of Norway
Celebrate Norway’s independence day at 2 p.m. May 18, at Normanna Hall, 2725 Oakes Ave., Everett.
The Syttende Mai celebration includes a short program, music, flag and bunad parade, and a presentation of “I Remember Mama.”
Following the short program, the lodge is hosting a “A Taste of Norway” featuring food demonstrations and samples, woodcarvers, rosemaling, Norwegian embroidery and other handcrafts. There will be a bake sale, music, a Scandinavian boutique and children’s activities.
There is no charge for admission. However, there will be a free-will collection for the actors, and a charge for most items at “The Taste.”

Natural resources: The annual meeting of the Northwest Local Work Group will be held Wednesday at the Hibulb Cultural Center, 6410 23rd Ave. NE, Tulalip. The group is a seven-county regional advisory body to the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service district conservationist in Mount Vernon and the NRCS State Technical Advisory Committee in Spokane.
The meeting identifies for the next federal fiscal year the natural resource priorities and objectives needing funding. Farmers, loggers and others whose work involves soil, water, wetlands, plants, forests and wildlife are invited.
