Old-fashioned picnic
The Alderwood Manor Heritage Association plans its annual picnic at 11 a.m. July 30 at Heritage Park, 19903 Poplar Way, Lynnwood. A potluck lunch starts at noon, rain or shine. This year is the group’s 25th anniversary. Cake will be served and donations are encouraged to cover expenses.

Camera conversation on hold: In other Lynnwood news, the City Council doesn’t plan to address the future of the traffic-enforcement camera contract until after its summer recess, which typically starts in August. The contract with the camera vendor expires in November. The decision to wait for the discussion was mentioned in meeting minutes from a July 18 work session.
Rummage sale: St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church’s annual Summer Festival, featuring picnic food, a rummage sale and a silent auction, is set for 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday at 1318 E Highway 532, Camano Island. Silent auction runs until 1:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit St. Aidan’s and other local charities, including Safe Harbor Medical Clinic, Stanwood-Camano Resource Center and The Spot (Youth for Christ). Beer for a cause: The first Arlington Brew Fest is set for 4-9 p.m. Saturday at Legion Memorial Park, 114 N Olympic Ave. Enjoy beer, wine and cider tastings. There also will be food trucks, raffles, music and more. The 21-and-over event is a fundraiser for Vision for a Cure, supporting Usher syndrome research.
