Front Porch: Ballots for school elections due today

Ballots due today

It’s election day in all but three Snohomish County school districts, with regular levies up for renewal and special measures for capital or technology improvements on the ballot in some places. Ballots were mailed a couple of weeks ago, and voters must return them by mail, with a postmark today, or to election drop boxes by 8 p.m.

The only districts that don’t have ballot measures are Index, Stanwood and Arlington. Levies are approved with a simple majority; bond issues require 60 percent voter approval.

Plans to build Sky Valley parade float: The Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce is planning to build a parade float.

It wants to bring the float to parades around Puget Sound to promote gold dust royalty and Sky Valley adventures.

Mike Eddy, of Index, has contributed a trailer. Now, the chamber is looking for people to help with the design.

People can bring drawings to the visitor center in Sultan or attend a meeting at 6 tonight.
