Brett Jensen walk
The sixth Brett Jensen Memorial Walk and Run is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 23 at Everett’s American Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd. The noncompetitive, 3.6-mile event is held in remembrance of Brett Akio Jensen, a Cascade High School graduate and University of Washington student who died in 2002 from a fall at his fraternity house.
The walk stresses health and fitness, and raises money for the Brett Jensen Memorial Scholarship Foundation. In 11 years, almost $100,000 from the foundation has been awarded to Everett-area high school seniors. This year’s recipient of a $5,000 scholarship was Michael Cezik, a Cascade graduate who will attend the University of Florida.
Registration for the walk-run is $25 and includes a T-shirt. There will be coffee, a silent auction, a clown and music. Register online at brettjensen.wordpress.com.
Health fair Saturday: A free health fair is scheduled Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arlington clinic of the Community Health Center of Snohomish County, 326 S. Stillaguamish Ave. Blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings will be offered as well as dental screenings and fluoride applications for children. Molina Healthcare is a co-sponsor of the event.
