Camp in the winter
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission reports that more than 80 parks are remaining open seven days a week this season.
Each year, the commission publishes a winter schedule. It’s available at www.parks.wa.gov/parkschedule/. Four parks are open on weekends and holidays only.
Stay in cabins at Bay View, Camano Island, Cama Beach, Kitsap Memorial or Wallace Falls state parks. State parks that accept year-round camping reservations include Deception Pass on Whidbey Island.
Keep out the cold: Edmonds-Woodway High School student Hailey Trumble is holding a winter clothes drive for Clothes for Kids and the Pathways for Women shelter. Bring new or gently used coats, scarves, mittens, hats or blankets to Ordinary Things, 610 5th Ave. S., Edmonds, through Nov. 15. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call the store at 425-776-4912.
High school to hold college and career fair: Granite Falls High School is set to sponsor a college and career fair Wednesday.
Representatives from four-year, two-year and technical colleges and the military will take part in the event, scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the high school, 1401 100th St. NE.
Financial aid presentations are to be included and there will be representatives from local businesses for school-to-work options.
