Front Porch: Camp Stitch-a-Lot returns this summer

Camp Stitch-a-Lot

Camp Stitch-a-Lot is back this year, running June 24 to July 19. The one-week, half-day sessions for kids ages 8 to 17 focus on basic sewing, knitting and crocheting skills.

The camp is run by the Clothing and Textile Advisors of Snohomish County in partnership with Washington State University Extension and 4-H Youth Development. Classes are held in the Extension education building classroom behind the Extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

Classes are $35 each. Registration is required by May 31.

Permission to come aboard: The popular classic yachts are returning to Edmonds Waterfront Festival.

Fourteen classic wooden yachts will be at the 2013 Edmonds Waterfront Festival at the end of this month. The event is sponsored by the Port of Edmonds and the Pacific Northwest Fleet of the Classic Yacht Association. The following boats will be docked at the Edmonds Marina during the festival: Adagio, Cle’Illahee, Comrade, El Mistico, Freya, Guillemot, Hi’ilani, Holiday, Patamar, Scandalon, Sea Otter, Turning Point and Williwaw.

The public is invited to view this gathering of boats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 1 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 2. Many of the boats will be available for boarding. Guests are asked to wear soft-soled shoes.
