Cat food, litter needed
The Everett Animal Shelter is in need of cat food and clay, non-clumping litter. The food must be pate-style canned food without red food coloring. The shelter is located at 333 Smith Island Road.

Be prepared: The Everett Fire Department will offer a free emergency preparedness class this fall.
The Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, class runs for eight Wednesday evenings starting Sept. 23. The focus is on disaster planning, recovery and survival skills. Businesses are welcome. Applications are due Sept. 15.

Veterans needed: The Carl Gipson Senior Center is inviting all veterans older than 50 to take part in a photo shoot. The photo will be displayed at the center’s 10th annual USO dance on Veterans’ Day.
The shoot will take place Sept. 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the senior center, located at 3025 Lombard Ave. in Everett. Veterans from any branch of the military or who served in any capacity are welcome. The last photo shoot took place in 2011.
