‘Overcome’ event
African-American history month is to be celebrated at the fourth annual “We Shall Overcome” sing-along at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mill Creek Library.
Snohomish County Executive John Lovick is expected to lead the crowd in singing the song as he has since 2012.
The library is located at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway. Because parking at the library is limited, people are encouraged to park the Mill Creek Town Center.
Learn about local stream preservation: A free class held by the Adopt A Stream Foundation will teach people how to adopt local streams for preservation.
The class, called The Streamkeeper, will cover the physical, biological and chemical characteristics of streams, how to organize community support to protect streams, and how to set and achieve long- and short-term goals.
The presentation will be led by Tom Murdoch, the foundation’s executive director, and is appropriate for adults and advanced-level middle and high school students.
The class will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Adopt A Stream Foundation, located at the south end of McCollum Park (600 128th St. SE, Everett). The event is free, but registration is required: Call 425-316-8592 to reserve a space.
