Celebrate Flag Day
Folks 50 and older are invited to a Flag Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett, 3025 Lombard Ave., Everett.
The event includes a hot dog and hamburger barbeque for $2, entertainment by the Everett Housing Authority Band, a color guard presentation by the NJROTC from Everett High School and a flag presentation.
Spruce up Jetty Island: Seattle workers for IBM will volunteer at Jetty Island on Wednesday.
Others can join People For Puget Sound to help maintain the environment by meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the 10th Street boat launch, located at 10th and West Marine View Drive in Everett.

Lifesaving awards: Know someone who saved a life this past year?
The Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board would like to know.
The board is accepting nominations for the 2011 Governor’s Lifesaving awards, presented to Washington state residents who saved a life in the past 12 months.
