Go birding
People can take a tour of bird-viewing areas on Sunday morning.
Pam Pritzl plans to lead the tour from 8:45 a.m. to noon. Destinations may change because of the weather or notable bird activity, but past expeditions have gone to English Boom Historical Park, locations on Skagit Bay and Iverson Beach Preserve on Port Susan Bay.
Meet at Terry’s Corner park-and-ride, 860 N. Sunrise, behind Camano Island Coffee Roasters to join carpools and get directions.
Dress in layers appropriate for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring binoculars or scopes. No dogs allowed.
The tour is hosted by Camano Wildlife Habitat Project and Friends of Camano Island Parks.
Award-winner: This could be a wicked good time when the Literary Series at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts presents an “An Evening with Winnie Holzman” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at WICA, 565 Camano Ave., Langley.
Holzman made her Broadway debut in 2003 when she wrote the book for the Stephen Schwartz musical “Wicked.”
She won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Book of a Musical and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical.
Holzman, an American dramatist, screenwriter and poet, also created the ABC television series “My So-Called Life,” for which she won an Emmy nomination.
She also wrote for “thirtysomething” and “Once and Again.”
Tickets are $8. Call 360-221-8268 or 800-638-7631 or go to www.WICAonline.com.
