Color guards compete

The sixth annual Winterguard Classic Competition is scheduled for Saturday in Kamiak High School’s main gym, 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. Preliminary competition begins at 11 a.m. and the finals begin at 4:45 p.m. Teams from Washington, Canada and Oregon will compete. Winterguards use flags, sabres and mock rifles choreographed with ballet, jazz, modern and contemporary dance. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors. Children 5 and under are free.

Safety workshops: The Mukilteo Police Department continues its series of free safety workshops this month. This week’s offering focuses on burglary prevention. It starts at 6 p.m. Friday at City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way.

Marysville TV channel off the air: Marysville’s cable access channel will be off the air from late Friday to early Monday while crews install new carpeting in City Hall. The work requires the equipment that powers the channel to be removed. Broadcasts will resume Monday morning.
