The Marysville Family YMCA is planning its eighth Annual 360 Break Dance Battle on Saturday.
The contest begins at 6 p.m. at the Totem Middle School gym, 1605 Seventh St. NE.
The competition is expected to draw 20 crews or teams from across Washington and more than 600 spectators.
The 360 Break Battle was originally developed to give kids a chance for leadership roles, volunteer opportunities and a safe place to showcase their talent and skills. The event is completely managed by teens for teens.
The cost is $7 for YMCA members and kids 14 and younger, $8 for others.

Newest fire house: Lake Stevens Fire District 8 is planning an open house at its recently remodeled Fire Station 82 on Saturday.
The event is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. at the station, 9811 Chapel Hill Road. A ribbon cutting is planned for 1:30 p.m.
The station was remodeled with a $6 million fire levy approved in 2006. The conference room was expanded to accommodate firefighter training sessions, and a firefighter fitness room and dorm rooms were added.
Photos of the remodeling may be seen on the district’s Web site, www.lsfire.org.
Paving the way: The Monroe/Sky Valley Family YMCA is selling personalized bricks for a front walkway. Each brick costs $100, and the proceeds go toward a scholarship fund. People who buy a brick can have their name or a business’ name etched into the surface. No YMCA membership is necessary. The deadline to buy a brick is July 6.
