Bridget Budbill, a second-year law student at the University of Oregon, will lead a presentation discussing war crimes, human rights and international law Wednesday on Camano Island.
Her program starts at 7 p.m. at the Camano Multipurpose Building, 141 N. East Camano Drive.
Budbill studied international human rights law and litigation in the Netherlands and attended sessions of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, currently trying former Liberian head of state Charles Taylor for offenses including war crimes.
The program is sponsored by the Camano Island Democrats.
Western sale at Goodwill: The Marysville Goodwill store offers a sale of Western clothing and gear Friday and Saturday. The sale starts at 8 a.m. both days at 9315 State Ave.
Items expected to be available include cowboy hats and boots, horse saddles, belts and buckles, and Western-themed clothing, jewelry and furniture.
Proceeds from the Western Days Sale support Goodwill’s free job training and education programs.
Author speaks about Camano childhood: O. Alan Weltzien, author of “A Father and an Island: Reflections on Loss,” will sign books at 7 p.m. at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.
Growing up, Weltzien spent many summers at his family’s Camano Island cabin.
