Fireworks on ferries
People planning to carry fireworks onto state ferries are reminded that the devices will trigger a response by Washington State Patrol explosive-sniffing dogs.
Fireworks should be kept in a place easily accessible for police examination. Illegal fireworks on ferries will be confiscated and could lead to criminal charges.
Cocoon House grant: Cocoon House, an agency serving homeless and at-risk teens in Snohomish County, has received a $100,000 grant from the Washington Women’s Foundation. The grant will support relocation and renovation of Cocoon House’s U-turn Drop-In Center. Changes at the Everett facility will include a shower room, laundry and kitchen. The Seattle-based foundation picked Cocoon House as one of five organizations receiving its 2012 Pooled Fund grants. Cocoon House won in the human services category.
Outlets have new parking garage: A new parking garage at Seattle Premium Outlets at Quil Ceda Village at Tulalip is now open to the public. The first floor of the garage is open, with the second floor expected to open soon, said Teresa Meece, marketing director for Quil Ceda Village.
Parking is free. The garage has six stairwells and two elevators.
