Front Porch: Everett packed with pirate events next weekend

Shipwreck ahead

Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson proclaimed April 5, 6, and 7 “April Fool’s Shipwreck Weekend.”

This piracy party, an event run by the nonprofit Santa Hop, gets off to a giving start with lunch for the homeless from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Eagles, 1216 Broadway.

Then, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Port Gardner Winery, 2802 Rockefeller Ave., there’s a “Very Pirate Wine Tasting,” with entertainment by American Indian flutist Duffy Owens. Tickets to benefit Santa Hop are $20 at the winery or at www.brownpapertickets.com.

From 4 to 6 p.m. at Glacier Lanes, 9630 Evergreen Way, there’s a bowling party with Pirates vs. Vikings as the pirates challenge the Sons of Norway Team and the public can challenge the pirates. Kids are invited.

At 9 p.m. at Anchor Pub, 1001 Hewitt Ave., there’s the April Fools Shipwreck Ball where people are invited to wear their best pirate attire and dance to classic rock and roll. Captain Kinky will perform weekend marriages and there will be raffles with cash and prizes.

At noon Sunday, at the dock at the end of 18th Street off W. Marine View Drive, there will be a memorial for pirates who have sailed their last adventure. Bowling benefit: Clothes For Kids and the Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce plan a combined Bowl-A-Thon from 5 to 7 p.m. April 17 at the Lynnwood Bowl &Skate. All funds raised will benefit Clothes For Kids and help provide wardrobes for more than 4,500 low-income students this school year.

Cost is $25, or $100 per team. Bowlers will receive a T-shirt and two games of bowling.
