Monte Cristo Awards
The public is invited to the 20th annual Monte Cristo awards, held Oct. 9, at the Everett Performing Arts Center, located at 2710 Wetmore Ave. Now in their 20th year, the Monte Cristo awards honor homeowners and business owners for their efforts to make their properties attractive.
Awards are given in three categories, and each winner receives a plaque for the exterior of their home or business. The Marian Krell Award, which recognizes superior care on an ongoing basis by a prior Monte Cristo award winner, also will be presented. District seeks parents for panel: Everett Public Schools is looking for parent volunteers to sit on a committee reviewing middle and high school social studies books and learning materials. Two parents, one of a high school student, one of a middle school student, will join the committee in nine meetings between Oct. 27 and March 16, 2015, and present their recommendations to the school board. Interested parents in the school district can apply by emailing Humanities and Literacy Specialist Georgia Lindquist at glindquist@everettsd.org by 4 p.m. Oct. 15 with contact information, availability for the meetings and statements of qualifications.
