The current issue of Cityvision, the magazine of the Association of Washington Cities, focuses on homelessness, and includes an article on the city of Everett’s Community Streets Initiative. The article includes interviews with city officials, including Mayor Ray Stephanson, Deputy City Attorney David Hall and prosecutor Hil Kaman, on the city’s plans to create low-barrier housing for Everett’s chronically homeless. Join Lynnwood volunteers: The Lynnwood Police Department is looking for volunteers to join the Citizens Patrol, a group of folks who work alongside officers. Volunteers are asked to give eight hours a month. They must be 18 and undergo a five-week training course. The next training starts May 3. Volunteer for the animals: The Everett Animal Shelter is holding an orientation session for new volunteers. There is space for 40 attendees, so the session will focus on the first to arrive. The orientation sessions held at the shelter, located at 333 Smith Island Road. One will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and a second session will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
