A Snohomish County program that provides vouchers for free disposal of flood-damaged household items at county solid waste drop-offs ends April 1. The vouchers were available starting in November after heavy flooding along local rivers.
Items that can be disposed of with the vouchers include carpets, mattresses, furniture, clothes, food and appliances except for refrigerators and freezers. The vouchers do not cover yard debris or damaged items from businesses.
Vouchers can be received at the Snohomish County courthouse, the American Red Cross at 2530 Lombard Ave. or at the police departments in Marysville, Mill Creek, Sultan, Gold Bar, Granite Falls, Snohomish and Stanwood. Shopping bags needed: The YWCA of Snohomish County is asking for donations of department store shopping bags for the Women’s Working Wardrobe program, which provides free outfits to low-income women who need something to wear for job interviews.
