Candidate forum
Candidates competing for the 1st Congressional District seat will share a stage Friday at the campaign’s first forum in Snohomish County.
Seven of the eight people seeking the seat in Congress are expected at the event that begins at 7 p.m. in the Machinists Union Hall at 8729 Airport Road in Everett.
It is free and open to the public.
Organizers say Democratic candidates Darcy Burner of Carnation, Suzan DelBene of Medina, state Rep. Roger Goodman of Kirkland, state Sen. Steve Hobbs of Lake Stevens, Darshan Rauniyar of Bothell and Laura Ruderman of Kirkland and independent Larry Ishmael of Redmond, will be there.
Republican John Koster of Arlington is not scheduled to attend.
The forum, which will be moderated by Enrique Cerna of public television station KCTS, Channel 9, is sponsored by the Washington State Labor Council.
For more information, call the state labor council at 206-281-8901.
Volunteer at lighthouse: Anyone interested in volunteering at the Mukilteo Lighthouse and gift shop will have a chance to attend a training session this weekend.
The session is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the lighthouse, 608 Front St.
Volunteers greet visitors to the lighthouse from all over the world and discuss the landmark’s history, or work at the gift shop.
The job takes only five hours one day a month from April through September.
