Free fitness expo for kids and youth
A free, day-long festival for children and teens will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SW.
Kids and their familes can learn more parkour, archery, BMX, gold, scuba, fly fishing, rock climbing and more.
The event and activities are free. Exhibitors may have products to sell.
The expo’s sponsors are Absolute Air Park, YMCA of Snohomish County, Clif Bar, Seattle’s Child, Everett Parks and Honest Kids.
The Expo Stage is to present a rock concert by students of the School of Rock Seattle at 11 a.m.
At noon, McCollum BMX is hosting a Race for Life event. Anyone can race (there is a $10 entry fee) and all proceeds benefit the Lymphoma and Leukemia Foundation.
The first 1,000 registered youth on site receive a free logo sport pack.

Historic river boat traffic: A seminar planned for Tuesday night will discuss historic Lowell’s early boat traffic on the Snohomish River.
The talk by resident Alex Alexander also will focus on the forest surrounding Everett’s oldest neighborhood and the Getchell homestead. The presentation is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lowell Community Church, 5216 S. Second Ave. It’s part of a seminar series titled “Ice, Wood and Water” that has events every other month this year to mark the 150th anniversary of Lowell’s founding.
Soap box derby: Come cheer more than 70 young racers at the sixth annual Stanwood Camano Soap Box Derby, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday near the Stanwood Senior Center, 7430 276th St. NW. Boys and girls will zoom down “Derby Hill” for a chance to compete at a world championship derby. More info: 360-629-5257.
