Pancakes: The Edmonds Sons of Norway Lodge hosts its third pancake breakfast and bake sale of the year, 7:30 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Edmonds Masonic Center, 515 Dayton St. Norwegian pancakes with strawberries, ham and beverage for $8, $5 ages 6-10, free for ages 5 and younger. Volunteers sought: Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County holds its next six-week training class for volunteers 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 10 to Nov. 14. There also is a class session 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 5. All sessions meet in downtown Everett.
The classes are free to volunteers willing to commit 10 hours of service within a six-month period for the nonprofit. Class topics include an overview of domestic violence, its effects on children, the role of drugs and alcohol, safety planning, legal advocacy and more. Light snacks will be provided at break times.
