Lynnwood mandates garbage collection
Starting Aug. 1, people who own property in the city of Lynnwood will be required to have garbage collection. The new rules are designed to address nuisance properties and illegal dumping, according to a press release. Most people in Lynnwood already have garbage collection. Groundbreaking on new chapel at Archbishop Murphy: Archbishop Murphy High School plans to break ground on a new $2.5 million chapel on campus Friday. Archbishop of Seattle J. Peter Sartain will preside over the ceremony, which begins at 12:35 p.m., and bless the site. Construction on the chapel, which will seat 250, will start in the summer and last about nine months.
The private Catholic high school plans to pay for the chapel as part of an ongoing $6 million capital campaign.
Mukilteo offers citizens police academy: The next Mukilteo Police Department citizens academy is set to start in mid-September. The free class runs Thursday nights at the Rosehill Community Center.
