Free child car seat safety checks are available Friday at Fire Station 11, 12310 Meridian Ave., Everett.

The event organized by Safe Kids Snohomish County runs from noon to 2 p.m. Bring your children and their safety seats. More info: 425-551-1254.

History talk at Camano schoolhouse: An open house and history talk are planned from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the historic Camano City Schoolhouse. Retired anthropology professor John Osmundson will speak about “2000 Years of Nature, People and Tools on and around Camano Island.” The schoolhouse is located at 993 Orchid Road. Donations for the Camano Schoolhouse Foundation will be accepted but admission to the event is free. The open house runs the entire time and Osmundson’s presentation is set for 2 p.m.

Beer &Brat Night: Let local breweries wet your whistle, savor a gourmet brat by Das Brat Wagen, and enjoy live music from Preacher’s Wife while strolling through the Schack Art Center’s glass pumpkin patch on Beer &Brat Night, 5-9 p.m. Thursday.

The event features glassblowing demonstrations by artists participating in the upcoming exhibit, All Natural, opening at the Schack on Oct. 8.

There is a 10 percent discount on all glass pumpkins during the event. Visitors must be 21 or older. Tickets are $25, and are available at www.schack.org/events/beer-brat-night-2015. The Shack is located at 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
