GroundFrog Day
Today, the bullfrog Snohomish Slew is scheduled to predict if we will have several more weeks of winter or if spring is just around the corner.
The annual GroundFrog Day festivities start at 11 a.m., downtown Snohomish. The prediction is scheduled around noon at the Gazebo, located at the corner of First Street and Avenue A. The free event will have music, entertainment and children activities.
New TVW links: Anyone can now access live and archived video of Washington state legislative committee hearings through links on the Legislature’s website, www.leg.wa.gov.
This new collaboration between the Legislature and the state public affairs television network will provide the public even greater access to the legislative process, TVW President Greg Lane said in a press release.
Specifically, the video links have been added to the bill Information pages on the legislative website. So when anyone goes to the information page on a specific bill, links to video provided by TVW are now included along with the bill history and legislative documents.
TVW also offers access to all programming at TVW.org. Viewers can watch a live stream of TVW’s television signal, stream live webcasts or view any of TVW’s 65,000 hours of archived gavel-to-gavel events and produced public affairs programs.
Are you missing out? The IRS is encouraging taxpayers who earn less than $49,078 a year to check to see if they qualify for the earned income tax credit.
The IRS estimates that 1 in 5 eligible workers and families miss out on earned income tax credit because either they don’t claim it or don’t file a return at all, said IRS media relations representative David Tucker.
For tax year 2010 returns filed in 2011, there were 426,124 Washington state taxpayers who claimed the credit and received $847 million with an average EITC amount of $1,987, said Tucker.
