Learn about Fort Casey: Terry Buchanan, author of “Fort Casey: The History of Fort Casey and the Defense of the Pacific Northwest,” will speak at the Oak Harbor Library at 3 p.m. Thursday, 1000 SE Regatta Drive in Oak Harbor.
Buchanan traces the history and revival of Whidbey Island’s Fort Casey from the 1890s to the present. The author will have copies of the book for sale.

Literary salon in Mukilteo: All writers and poets are invited to a literary salon at the Mukilteo library.
The salon is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo.
