Catch, learn about fish
Willow Creek Hatchery’s open house will be Saturday and Sunday during the Edmonds Waterfront Festival.
The free family event will run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. There will be free trout fishing for kids 12 and under. Edmonds Salmon Chapter members will clean the fish.
Tours of the fish hatchery will be given including an in-hatchery simulation of the salmon in a stream bed and how fish maneuver a flowing current.
Shuttle buses will be available to drop off and pick up visitors between the festival and the hatchery.
The hatchery is located at 95 Pine St., Edmonds.

Help guide Monte Cristo visitors: People are needed this summer to provide visitor information at the historic Monte Cristo town site and cabin area and along the trails.
The stewards use one of the U.S. Forest Service cabins during day-long or multiple-day trips and help maintain the cabins, camp areas and trails.
People interested in volunteering must attend training at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Verlot Public Service Center, 33515 Mountain Loop Highway, Granite Falls.
