Help Elks fill the truck
Everett Elks members plan to hold a fill-the-truck fundraiser as a part of Operation Desert Comfort from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the QFC at 2615 Broadway, Everett.
The goal is to fill a 1950s vintage truck with enough items for 100 boxes that will be sent to U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan. Lists of items will be available and include treats like hard candy, gum, sunflower seeds and fruit roll-ups. The boxes will be shipped in time for Christmas.
Sonntag to speak at Pachyderm Club: Former state auditor Brian Sonntag is scheduled to be the featured speaker for the Northwest Washington Regional Pachyderm Club.
The talk is 6:30 tonight at Patty’s Egg Nest, 303 128th St., Everett. They take checks, but no credit cards. RSVP to allow for room for seating by calling Norm Nunnally at 425-359-5466.
A time to plant: Help plant a sustainable garden and learn more about native plants at a Community Planting Day, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Camano Multi-Purpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive, Camano Island.
Learn about sustainable, low-maintenance techniques for your garden. Bring a friend and gloves. Refreshments will be provided.
