Help Hugs for Ghana
A fundraiser for the student-led nonprofit Hugs for Ghana is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. March 18 at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. in Mukilteo. The event includes a multicultural buffet dinner, live entertainment and a silent auction.Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the door or via hugsforghana@gmail.com. The organization works with schools, orphanages and hospitals to help improve education and the life of Ghanaian children.
Pancake breakfast: The Edmonds Sons of Norway Lodge is hosting a pancake breakfast and bake sale from 7:30 a.m. until noon March 19 at the Edmonds Masonic Center, 515 Dayton St. A hearty portion of Norwegian pancakes with strawberries and syrup, ham, juice, coffee tea, and milk costs $8 for adults and $5 for kids 6-10 (under age 5 are free). Proceeds support the Edmonds Food Bank, Ski For Light outings for mobility and sight impaired skiers, scholarships and the Sons of Norway Foundation.
Genealogical research on Whidbey: The Genealogical Society of South Whidbey offers an all-day seminar with Gary Zimmerman of Fiske Library, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. March 26 at Useless Bay Country Club, 5725 S Country Club Lane, Langley. Topics include colonial immigration, British Isles and Canada, German immigration and Scandinavian arrivals. Cost to attend is $60 and includes lunch. Raffle tickets are $1.
