Jazz students perform
The Edmonds Jazz Connection is an annual music festival that features a full day of performances from award-winning high school jazz programs from throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Students showcase their improvisational talents while playing side-by-side with professional musicians. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 24. Big band events are at the Edmonds Masonic Center, 515 Dayton St.; vocal jazz at the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 4th Ave. N; and jazz combos at the Edmonds Theater, 415 Main St. Admission is free, donations will be accepted. Bus rides for summer school: The Edmonds School District for the first time will offer free bus transportation for many of its summer learning programs this year. Students who attend secondary Summer School, eLearning Summer School, Ramp Up to Algebra at Meadowdale High School, and Summer Math at Cedar Valley Community School are eligible. Families must register for one of the programs before June 1 to reserve summer transportation. Families can learn more about all of the district’s Summer Scholars programs at www.edmonds.wednet.edu.
