The Snohomish Conservation District plans to teach people how and what to plant in their yards to benefit the area’s native flora and fauna. A presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Dr.
People can learn about native plant nurseries and other local resources. Presenters Kristin Marshall and Alex Pittman are habitat restoration experts who have worked for years on stream and wetland restoration projects.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of Camano Island Parks, which typically hosts free public presentations on the third Wednesday of each month. For more information, people can call 360-387-2236 or email camanowildlifehabitat@gmail.com.
Wellness event planned in Lynnwood
An open house is scheduled at the new Verdant Community Wellness Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The center is at 4710 196th St. SW in Lynnwood. Classes, support groups, trainings and cooking demonstration will be offered for free or low-cost to the public. Some of the classes already scheduled include Healthy Cooking, Parenting, Stress Management and a Couch to 5K Training Program. Call 425- 582-8600 for information.
