Learn the best practices for protecting yourself, your property and your family at the Mountlake Terrace Police Department’s seminar, “Home Defense and Firearm Safety,” from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23308 58th Ave. W.

Monroe job fair: WorkSource Snohomish County holds its SummerPalooza job fair from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at WorkSource Monroe, 17150 W Main St., Monroe.
Employers and community organizations will offer summer employment, internships and volunteer opportunities for high school youth and adults. Everyone in Snohomish County is invited and should come prepared to interview, fill out job applications and hand out copies of their resumes.

Honoring World War I troops: Camano Island’s Freedom Park Association is seeking the names of men and women who served in the Army, Navy or Marine Corps in 1917 and 1918.
At its 3 p.m. July 4 celebration at the park, the association plans to remember those who served in World War I.
The group has about 30 names of those who served from the Stanwood area. People who know of those who served in World War I from Camano Island are asked to bring forward names, ranks, branches of service and areas of service.
