The dirt on soil
A farm planner who specializes in soil, manure management and composting plans to speak at the Snohomish Conservation District at 7 p.m. Thursday in the multi-purpose room of the Snohomish Library, 311 Maple Ave, Snohomish.
Caitlin Price plans to give the presentation “Soil Health and Improvement” at the next meeting of the Snohomish County Fruit Society, the newest chapter of Western Cascade Fruit Society. The meeting is open to the public. For more information call 425-398-5544 or go to www.wcfs.org.
Art walk on Thursday: The Downtown Marysville Art Walk, organized by the Marysville Arts Coalition and the Downtown Marysville Merchants Association, is set from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Retail locations that center around Third Street will become mini-art galleries as local artists take up residence for the free public event.
Visitors to the Art Walk are encouraged to stop by each location and collect artists’ signatures on the event map. With signatures from each artist, guests can be entered to win a prize package donated by the Downtown Marysville Merchants Association. Remember the storm of ‘62? The 50th anniversary of the infamous Columbus Day storm of 1962, which injured hundreds and killed dozens, is approaching.
Reporter Gale Fiege is preparing a story about the storm and is interested in hearing from readers who lived through the Oct. 12 storm, especially those who were in Snohomish County at the time.
