Get a low-cost ski helmet: Children can hit the slopes in stylish safety this year. Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens and Safe Kids Snohomish County are offering ski and snowboard helmets to kids for $25.
Crews will fit the helmets to the kids. Helmets can reduce the severity of a head injury when worn and fit properly. To set up a fitting appointment, call 425-334-3034.

Ugly sweater pub crawl and poker walk: There’s an ugly Christmas sweater pub crawl and poker walk through historic downtown Snohomish scheduled from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Prizes will be awarded to people who show up for the pub crawl wearing the ugliest holiday sweaters. There’s also a prize and cash for the winner of the poker walk. During the poker walk, players visit seven businesses and select a card at each location. They then choose five to make the best hand. It costs $5 to play.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at Skip Rock Distillers, 104 Avenue C. Pub crawl wristbands cost $15 online or $20 at the event. Three drinks are included.
