Oil train forum
Members of the League of Women Voters have planned an informational meeting at the Lynnwood Library from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday to discuss safety efforts surrounding the transport of crude oil by train. Representatives from the state Department of Ecology will speak about legislation passed in 2015 and 2016 governing crude oil shipments. Council returns: The Lynnwood City Council is scheduled to resume meetings with a work session Jan. 3. The council will have to elect a president and vice president.
Check out the Opera House: The Marysville Opera House plans an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The event space can be rented for weddings, seminars and private parties. The location is 1225 Third St.
Christmas tree recycling: Boy Scout troops throughout Snohomish County run recycling programs, and some of them provide pickup.
