Monte Cristo awards
Nominations for the city of Everett’s 23rd annual Monte Cristo awards are open until June 1. The awards recognize people who improve the appearance of their homes and businesses. Awards are given in four categories, including a new green gardening category to recognize environmentally friendly landscaping. Winners will be recognized at a banquet in October. More information and nomination forms are available online at everettwa.gov/montecristo. Forms can be picked up at the city’s libraries, the lobby in the Wall Street Building, the PUD and at local home-improvement stores. Forms also can be requested through the Office of Neighborhoods, at 425-257-7195 or jhudson@everettwa.gov.
Book sale: The Friends of the Edmonds Library’s ongoing book sale now features a display of Pacific Northwest titles. Find helpful and beautiful used books on sites to see, places to eat, great hikes and more. All proceeds benefit library programs. The Edmonds Library is at 650 Main St.
Iceland heritage: Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson will talk about his family’s Icelandic roots at a Daughters of Norway program, starting at 10 a.m. April 15 at Normanna Hall, 2725 Oakes Ave., Everett. Free and open to the public. Come early to get a seat. More info: www.daughtersofnorway.org.
