The First Church in Mukilteo
Chris and Brenda DeForest are scheduled to give a presentation titled “The First Church in Mukilteo” at a meeting of the Mukilteo Historical Society on Thursday.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. in the Christiansen Room at Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. It is open to the public and refreshments are planned.
Paper carrier talk: Sandra Walker will talk about her book, “Little Merchants”, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Carl Gipson Senior Center multipurpose room. The book is a history of what the Everett author calls the “golden age” of newspaper carriers, 1920 through 1970, and includes recollections of many former Herald carriers. Walker also will speak to the center’s War Veterans Club at 1 p.m. Wednesday about how paper carriers sold bonds to support the war effort during World War II. Both events are free and open to the public. The senior center is at 3025 Lombard Ave., Everett.
Bothell’s new face: Bothell’s new assistant city manager, Peter Troedsson, started work this week.Troedsson recently retired from the U. S. Coast Guard after 30 years, according to a city news release. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration.
More than 100 people applied for the job, according to the city. Troedsson will be paid about $129,000 a year.
