The Mukilteo Police Department is planning another Citizens Academy this fall. The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays from Sept. 8 to Oct. 27. Classes are held at the fire station on 47th Place W.
People learn about law enforcement and get an inside look into Mukilteo police and crime prevention. Class topics include criminal law and procedures, investigations and forensic science.

Collecting supplies for kids: Churches and businesses are teaming up to fill backpacks with school supplies.
The Back2School Rally is scheduled at 3 p.m. Aug. 28 at Presidents Elementary School, 505 E. Third Street.
Last year’s event served 500 children from the Arlington and Lakewood School Districts.
Parents of children who need a backpack can register at www.arlingtonbackpack.com. Children must be present at the rally to receive their supplies. A list of needed supplies and donation drop-off locations is at www.arlingtonbackpack.com.
Police museum display: The Edmonds Police Department will celebrate its 100th anniversary in October 2012. The department is looking for photos, stories and memorabilia related to police officers in Edmonds from the early years through the 1970s. A display is planned at the Edmonds Museum next year.
